X-men, Pixie

Finally my new costume is done! I wanted to make Pixie as soon as I saw her. She has so many interesting details to make. And mutant fairy, it's so cool! ^___^
This photo made on Everycon in Moscow that our team visited as a jury. Hope to make a real shooting of this costume soon )
Thanks a lot to Predator for the great help with craft moments! It couldn't be possible without you!

So cute!  Pixie is a fun character.  And excellent job on the actual costume.  The wings, the boots and gauntlets, everything.  You look like you jumped out of the comics.

That is one of the best X-men, let alone Pixie, cosplays that I think I've ever seen.  So sleek, streamlined, and cool.  Latex -- at least I think it's latex; it's kinda hard to tell in the photo -- was definitely the right choice.  But, then again, when is latex ever not the right choice? :)

Seriously, you look like you just stepped off a comic book page.  And the arm bracers and leg greaves are just the best.  Very well done.  You should be extremely proud of your creation because it's awesome.

P. S. Looking at your photo again, your left leg definitely reads as "latex" but your right side seems more "spandex-y" than rubberized.  It has to be the lighting that's fooling me.

Oh, thank you so much! ^^ It was a challenging costume for me ) Still have some details to improve )) Latex is very hard material to work with, so I took faux leather and wet look spandex instead, but I like the result )Thank you very much again! ^^

I also imagine latex to be a bit more cost prohibitive than the materials you choose, as well. The effect is pretty similar -- similar enough to fool me, at least -- so that was probably the smarter way to go.  Plus, if you're going to be wearing your costume all day, at a convention, a latex costume might get a bit uncomfortable at some point whereas, I imagine, a spandex bodysuit would be far more "freeing".

I've said this before but I really wish Hollywood would consult cosplayers, or add them to their costuming department, to help realize the comic book characters that they bring to the big screen. There always seems to be some sort of compromise when it comes to designing superhero costumes for feature films.  They either don't look right (re: the Captain America costume in The Avengers movie) or there has to be some sort of compromise (re: the leatherized X-men in Bryan Singer's movies) because they think the costumes in the comic book would look silly or not translate or something.  You and the rest of your cosplayer friends have proven that doesn't have to be the case.  Even if they wanted to make them a bit more "grimier" there's always that option (personally, I like how bright and crisp-looking your costume is) but, at least, you would've provided the bones on which a comic book-recognizable costume could be built and fans would immediately recognize and love.

At any rate, best of luck and continued success.  I look forward to your future designs and builds.
